In school we had to pretend we were Esperanza and try out some of the chores she had to do living on the camp.We answered these questions.

How did you feel about this kind of work before you started? How have your feelings changed?

• Before I started I thought it was going to be fun but when we started everything changed.
• I had never had a broom in my hand before.
• I had never washed clothes in my life.
• I hadn’t cooked in my life.

What did you learn about yourself while doing this kind of work? Was it difficult?

• sweeping was difficult.
• cooking was easy because I was mixing everything.
• I feel sorry for the children because they do it every day.

How did you feel while doing this work? Did you enjoy it? Were you proud? Were you embarrassed? why?

• When I was doing the work I was enjoying it because it was  so hard and I found it challenging.

My car because I can go anywhere with it.

(My dad bought it for me).

 I would take my clothes because I can wear them.

My computer because I can connect with the world.

Every day the poor people is looking for food and some times they dont find food.

some times the rich people give them some  and some dont and if they didnt eat they are gonna die with there children.

many people died because they didnt find food.

• horizon-10= a place where the land and sea seem to meet the sky. 
• sprawl-11= to spread out.
• scold-11= to tell someone off.

Why can Esperanza and Miguel not get married?

•  Esperanza comes from a higher class than Miguel.

Miguel’s mother Hortensia is Esperanza’s nanny. Hortensia is married to Alfonso who works under Esperanza’s father.
